When pupils work together they hone their creativity and critical thinking skills to help each other make sense of new material. It increases self-confidence as they discover they’re capable of mastering difficult concepts without help.
Strategies to facilitate this:
1) Live question board – Using padlet pupils post their questions on and the teacher responds in a manner to both support and challenge them to find the answers themselves. The entire class can see and benefit from questions that are posed. An alternative is to make certain pupils ‘question managers’ on one specific aspect and respond to fellow pupils through the padlet.
2) Quizlet live – This tool is fantastic for encouraging pupils to work together as well as reveal misconceptions to address for the teacher.
