Presentational talk enables pupils to learn to talk effectively, developing their spoken language in more formal situations such as a presentation or debate.
Effective presentational talk can be guided by Voice 21 and Cambridge University’s framework that outlines 4 strands that make up good talk: physical, linguistic, cognitive and social and emotional elements.
In order to help pupils reflect on their presentational talk we have devised a peer and self assessment framework. This is designed to be used to enable pupils to RAG rate their physical, linguistic, cognitive and social/ emotion skills when undertaking presentational talk.
Here are also some examples of praise sentence stems that can be used to recognise the four elements of effective presentational talk.
