As a starter, for revision or an additional challenge, set a Linkee question. 4 questions that the pupils answer independently. The answers of all the questions should link in some way. Can they work out the link? Give a clue to help them.

Keywords Connect/Connect fours

Put a range of words or key terms on the IWB at the start of the lesson, the pupils have to make a connection between each key term and justify why. You can also use this website to group 4 key terms or concepts by finding the common link between them.

Spend the word

Give the pupils certain words that are more challenging to use either in a discussion task or written task. This provides a challenge and gets them thinking creatively! Pupils can also set targets for certain words for their partners to use too. Spend the word!

7 letter Scrabble-off

Pupils are given 7 Scrabble letters and have a certain amount of time to create as many words as they can linked with the topic or subject being studied. Use this website to create tiles.  

4 pics 1 word

Select 4 pictures to indicate clues to the pupils as to the jumbled word beneath. Add in extra letters to the word to make it harder to decipher. First pupil to guess is the winner! 4pics1word

Instagram thinking

Get the pupils to draw an image as if they were posting on instagram to sum up what they have learnt. Get them to add a suitable comment underneath to explain their image. Instagram

Get the pupils to compose a tweet in less than 20 words to sum up what they have learnt. Include a # to sum up a catchy phrase! Twitter

Great website used to create cryptogram puzzles for pupils to work out the answers to, you can replace letters with numbers and see which child works it out first! CRYPTOGRAM

Bingo

Use the PowerPoint template to test pupils’ knowledge of concepts they have learnt. Pose a question and then the children complete their bingo grid with 9 possible answers. Reveal your answers to see who wins a full house first! bingo game
